“Three things in human life are important: the first is to be kind; the second is to be kind, and the third is to be kind.”- Henry James
Kindness adds quality to life! Being kind to yourself, before anyone else, is possibly one of the most important things in life. Our inner voices can be our biggest bullies, putting us down at every turn or making us regret every decision we’ve ever made. Eventually, we turn into these insecure beings that we see in the mirror, struggling between what the world expects us to be and what we want ourselves to be.
While dealing with a multitude of emotions, we humans, tend to appreciate and welcome kindness. Imagine, what could be the impact of showing yourself some kindness? It will be really powerful and transform your life completely. It would lead you to become a happier person (the kind of happiness that lasts forever and isn’t momentary) and feel good about yourself. Not just that! It would contribute towards strengthening your relationship with everyone around you.
But it’s also one of the things taken for granted or overlooked by most, even when they know that they can’t possibly live better, love deeply, and make their dreams come true without the most powerful impulse of spirit — Self-Love.
Let’s talk about a few habits that would help you to be kind to yourself and embrace your true self!
Invest in yourself
Investing in yourself is the best investment you will ever make. Do things that will help you grow as a person. Read for 15-30 minutes in the morning or evening, listen to tunes that uplift you, exercise to keep yourself healthy and do things that help you connect with yourself while giving you a better understanding of your own self.
Starting looking for truth and exception when inner or outer critic attacks
You have got the inner critic that may not always be nice to you. Also, people around you may attack you in an attempt to bring you down. Before you allow criticism — whether it’s coming from your inner-self or people around you — to swallow your worth, ask yourself this: Is there is any truth or exception to this?
For instance, if your manager tells you that you aren’t doing a good job, ask the question and search for answers that tell you that it isn’t true. Questioning the attack and looking for exceptions is a great way to change the train of thoughts that may otherwise get you down on yourself. Remember, the best self-love coaching starts from within.
Take at least 30 minutes out of your day to be kind to your body and mind by unstressing yourself. The bottom line is that it’s important to put yourself first before anyone else and learn to be kind to yourself. It will transform your life in ways that you would’ve never imagined.
